Frugal Online Craps

Craps is synonymous with gambling. People might play poker or blackjack for fun but usually craps is played for money alone. Craps is the reason that roulette never took hold in America while being one of the most popular casino games in Europe. Serviceman in World War II played craps instead of roulette and the interest never waned.

It’s also the liveliest of all casino games. When you picture poker, it’s a bunch of stony-faced guys who are doing everything they can to not change their facial expressions. With craps, there’s a lot of screaming and yelling and jumping up and down. It’s not quite a poker face and it’s part of craps’ appeal.

Craps is a pretty difficult game to master. There is a multitude of betting options. This is both good and bad. It’s difficult for a newcomer who wants to just start playing a game without needing a handbook. The advantage is that a smart craps player has some of the best odds of winning of any casino game. It just takes a fair amount of experience to reach that level.

Here’s how it starts.

If you roll a 7 or 11 in your first roll, you win, simple as that. If you roll a 2, 3, or 12 that’s called “Craps” and you lose. Any other number – 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 – is called the point. The objective is then to make the point before hitting a 7. Bets are put down before the first roll – called the come out roll – and before each roll after that. Those are the simplest bets available.

The reason that craps is so popular on the casino floor is because, unlike card games, the player is the dealer. People can win a lot of money off a player if he’s rolling well. He’ll become a star attraction. It’s much more communal than other types of casino games.

Craps may be the game that is most significantly affected by online play. By all means, jump up and down and scream to the ceiling, but there won’t be dice to kiss before a roll and there won’t be a crowded table of people screaming you on. Which isn’t to say it can’t also be a lot of fun; it most certainly is. If you love craps in the traditional casino environment, your love of the game and skill will transfer to online craps.

The lack of uproar and commotion around the table can actually work to a player’s benefit. A land-based craps table can be so loud that it can be distracting. Any casino game takes concentration and those distractions can be a detriment. An online craps player can focus entirely on the game itself.

There’s a reason that casinos pass out free alcohol to customers. It both makes people a little more reckless and it diminishes a player’s focus. Being that craps is already a game that gives a smart player an advantage, playing in the quiet environment of a computer desktop can help a player’s chances even further. Online, a player can cut away the distractions and just concentrate on the game. Longtime craps players can be surprised by how their game improves online.
